		<item><id><![CDATA[5495]]></id><title><![CDATA[Prime Minster Harper meets with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto]]></title><link><![CDATA[http://pm.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=5495]]></link><description><![CDATA[This evening, following the conclusion of the&nbsp;Pacific Alliance Summit in Cali, Colombia, Prime Minister Harper met with Mexican President Pe&ntilde;a Nieto.&nbsp; <br />&nbsp;<br />The Leaders had a wide ranging discussion including how pleased they are with the state of bilateral relations.&nbsp;
<p>They also discussed the state of the global economy and major new trade and economic initiatives including the Pacific Alliance and the Trans Pacific Partnership.&nbsp; The Prime Minister commended the President for his and other members' leadership with the Pacific Alliance.</p>

		<item><id><![CDATA[5493]]></id><title><![CDATA[Prime Minister Harper meets with President Sebastián Piñera Echenique of Chile]]></title><link><![CDATA[http://pm.gc.ca/eng/media.asp?id=5493]]></link><description><![CDATA[Prime Minister Stephen Harper met today with Sebasti&aacute;n Pi&ntilde;era Echenique, President of the Republic of Chile in Cali, Colombia on the margins of the Pacific Alliance Summit.<br />&nbsp;<br />The discussion focussed on the progress of the Pacific Alliance, of which Chile is a founding member.&nbsp; The Prime Minister commended the President for his and other members' leadership with the initiative and indicated how pleased he was to attend his first Summit.&nbsp;
<p>The Leaders also took time to review the agenda for the President's upcoming state visit to Canada on May 30 and 31. The Prime Minister underscored the importance of the growing Canada-Chile bilateral relationship and highlighted, in particular, the significance of trade and investment ties.</p>

<p>The two leaders discussed the need to conclude an ambitious Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).&nbsp; The CETA will broaden and deepen an already strong Canada-UK commercial relationship.</p>
<p>The leaders also discussed the global economy and pressing international security issues.</p>

<p>The Leaders agreed on the importance of the Canada-China bilateral relationship.</p>
<p>They highlighted significant growth in trade and investment between the two countries. They also underlined the importance of maintaining a close dialogue on a full range of issues including bilateral economic cooperation, human rights and international security. In this context, Prime Minister Harper noted in particular the concerning situation in North Korea.</p>
<p>The Prime Minister concluded the call by reiterating an invitation to Premier Li to visit Canada at an early opportunity.</p>
<p>Prime Minister Harper met Premier Li Keqiang, then Vice-Premier, in Beijing during his official visit to China from February 7 to 11, 2012.
