Browser not supportedMarty Klyne is a proud Cree Métis who has spent much of his time advancing Aboriginal economic development and speaking up for Aboriginal interests to accelerate their participation in the mainstream economy. Today, he is a proud member of the FHQ Developments Ltd. Board of Directors.
Throughout his career, Mr. Klyne has held a variety of positions in the business sector. Recently, he was the Chief Executive Officer of the RCMP Heritage Centre following a very productive and rewarding undertaking as the Chief Operating Officer of the Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group (operating as the Regina Pats Hockey Club).
Mr. Klyne was also a sessional lecturer at the First Nations University of Canada and, from 2008 to 2013, he was the Publisher and CEO of the Saskatoon StarPhoenix and Regina Leader-Post, both divisions of Postmedia Network Inc.
Prior to Postmedia, Mr. Klyne was President and CEO of the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation. He also held management positions with Royal Trust Corporation of Canada and the Mercantile Bank of Canada, and later served as President and CEO of the Regina Regional Economic Development Authority and the SaskNative Economic Development Corporation.
As part of his commitment to the community, Mr. Klyne serves on a number of committees and boards, including the Interim Reconciliation Regina Council, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Labour Market Council, and the Economic Development Regina Board of Directors (Governance and Human Resource Committee). Mr. Klyne’s past commitments include the following organizations and respective Boards: Regina Palliative Care Inc.; Mackenzie Art Gallery; Ignite Adult Learning Corporation; National Aboriginal Economic Development Board (Chairperson); SaskPower Board of Directors (Vice Chair); Champions, Aboriginal Human Resource Council; Access to Capital Board; and, the Clarence Campeau Development Fund Board of Directors. He also served on the Lieutenant Governor’s Centennial Gala Board and was President of Grey Cup 2003.
For his contributions to the business sector and his community, Mr. Klyne received the Alumni Award for Distinguished Professional Achievement from the University of Regina, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal, and a First Nations Blanket form the ‘Assembly of First Nations’ National Chief, Perry Bellegarde. He also received an eagle feather from a Sun Dancer of the Carry the Kettle Nakoda First Nation, the highest honour one can receive in Indigenous culture.
Mr. Klyne was born and raised in Regina, graduating with distinction from the University of Regina with a degree in Business Administration, Finance.
