Greg Thompson was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988. He was re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006 and 2008. In February 2006, Mr. Thompson was appointed Minister of Veterans Affairs.

Before entering politics, Mr. Thompson worked as a teacher and financial planner.

Mr. Thompson has been active in his community, serving on the Board of Theatre New Brunswick, the Charlotte County Hospital, and the New Brunswick Drug and Alcohol Dependency Commission.

A graduate of St. Thomas University, Mr. Thompson is married to Linda and they have two sons.
