Prime Minister Stephen Harper speaks with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca of Moldova

Prime Minister Harper spoke today with Prime Minister Leanca of Moldova.

The two leaders exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and more broadly in Central and Eastern Europe. 

They strongly condemned Russia’s unprovoked violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity. Prime Minister Harper took the opportunity to reaffirm the importance of Moldova's sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.

Prime Minister Harper and Prime Minister Leanca also discussed Moldova’s steadfast commitment to deeper association with the European Union, indicating this was important for both prosperity and stability. Prime Minister Harper also commended Moldova’s efforts related to strengthening business ties and trade promotion between the two countries.
