The Honourable Gwen B. Hatch was appointed to Her Majesty’s Court of Queen’s Bench for Manitoba (Family Division) in 2013. Prior to her appointment, she was a partner at Tapper Cuddy LLP since 2010. Previously, she practiced with D’Arcy & Deacon LLP from 1987 to 2010, and with Savino & Company from 1983 to 1987. Her main areas of practice were family law, and wills and estates litigation.

Justice Hatch was a former part-time member for the Canadian Forces Grievance Board, and currently serves as a part-time Deputy Chief Commissioner for the Manitoba Residential Tenancies Commission.

Justice Hatch was also a presenter and member of numerous committees for the Law Society of Manitoba, and a former sessional instructor for the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba, where she also served as a member of the Board of Governors. She is a frequent guest lecturer for the Manitoba Bar Association, a member of the University of Manitoba Presidential Review Committee, and a board member and past chair for the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Justice Hatch is the author of several publications on wills and estates, and family law subjects.

Justice Hatch was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in 1978 and a Bachelor of Laws in 1981. She was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1982.
