The Honourable Darlene Jamieson was appointed to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia in 2018.
Associate Chief Justice Jamieson began her practice with Wickwire Holm and later formed the boutique firm Merrick, Jamieson, Sterns, Washington & Mahody, in 1998. Throughout her career, she has appeared before all levels of court in Nova Scotia, and before the Supreme Court of Canada. Her practice focused on commercial and construction litigation, insurance defence, product liability, and employment law. She was appointed King’s Counsel in 2006 and was named a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2018.
Associate Chief Justice Jamieson was President of the Law Reform Commission of Nova Scotia from 2012 to 2018. She received numerous awards for her commitment to community, equality, and diversity.
Associate Chief Justice Jamieson obtained a Bachelor of Arts (summa cum laude) from Saint Mary’s University in 1985 and a Bachelor of Laws from the Schulich School of Law in 1988. She was admitted to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1989.
