The Honourable Daniel Boone was appointed to the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2018 and to the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2022.
Chief Justice Boone began his practice with Stirling Ryan and the successor merged firm of Stewart McKelvey. His practice focused on civil litigation, and he gained extensive trial and appellate experience in medical malpractice, insurance law, construction law, and class actions. He was appointed King’s Counsel in 2014 and was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2015.
Chief Justice Boone contributed extensively to the professional development of younger lawyers through teaching at the Bar Admission Course, delivering presentations to professional organisations, and mentoring members of the legal profession.
Chief Justice Boone obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Memorial University in 1984 and a Bachelor of Laws (magna cum laude) from the University of Ottawa in 1988. He was admitted to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 1989.
