Dr. Rodney Ouellette is a physician and a scientist whose career has been dedicated to advancing cancer research, precision oncology, and molecular medicine. He is the founder of the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute and currently serves as R.R. Léger Chair in Precision Cancer Research. Through his research and leadership, he has helped strengthen cancer research capacity in Atlantic Canada while contributing to advances in precision medicine.

Dr. Ouellette’s work bridges clinical medicine and scientific research, with a focus on understanding the molecular basis of cancer and translating scientific discoveries into more precise approaches to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. He has contributed to more than 75 peer-reviewed publications and has collaborated extensively with researchers and institutions across Canada and internationally.

Dr. Ouellette has contributed to national research initiatives through organisations such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Terry Fox Research Institute, and the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network. A dedicated mentor, he has trained students, physicians, and emerging researchers, helping build scientific capacity in New Brunswick and across Atlantic Canada. His contributions to medical research, innovation, and patient care have been recognised with numerous honours, including his appointment to the Order of New Brunswick in 2025.

Dr. Ouellette holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Biochemistry, both from the Université de Moncton, as well as a Doctor of Medicine and a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Université Laval.
