
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey on the margins of the G20 Summit in Turkey.
Prime Minister Trudeau expressed his deepest condolences for the loss of life that resulted from the Ankara bombings.
Prime Minister Trudeau also congratulated President Erdoğan on successfully hosting the G20 Summit and thanked him for his hospitality.
The leaders reaffirmed their desire to further strengthen Canada-Turkey relations and discussed a number of bilateral and international issues, including the plight of refugees in the region.
Prime Minister Trudeau commended Turkey for hosting more than two million refugees and reiterated Canada's goal of bringing 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada by the end of 2015.
