Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany in Berlin.

The two leaders discussed several bilateral and international issues including trade, migration, and international security, including their strong support for NATO and Ukraine.

They reaffirmed the countries’ strong people-to-people relations and common values such as respect for human rights, rule of law, gender equality, pluralism and inclusion.  The leaders undertook to continue deepening these strong relations to advance shared interests, including the timely ratification of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Following their meeting, the two leaders travelled together to Breitscheidplatz to show their respects to the innocent victims of the terrorist attack that occurred there on December 19, 2016.
