The Prime Minister spoke today with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The Prime Minister and the President discussed the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and in particular, welcomed U.S. President Donald J. Trump’s statement that he is prepared to renegotiate the agreement to the benefit of all three countries. 

Prime Minister Trudeau and President Peña Nieto reiterated their respective readiness to do likewise, and promised to continue their dialogue on Canada-Mexico issues.‎ Both recognised the importance of NAFTA as a vehicle for growth in North America and looked forward to the on-going partnership of our two countries.
