Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico on the margins of the Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru.

The leaders discussed North American trade. The Prime Minister and the President emphasized the significant benefits the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has brought to all three partner countries and expressed optimism that negotiators will continue to make progress. 

The Prime Minister and President exchanged views on the crisis in Venezuela. The Prime Minister commended the leadership Mexico has demonstrated in fostering dialogue and achieving solutions.

Prime Minister Trudeau and President Peña Nieto also discussed Free Trade Agreement negotiations of the Pacific Alliance and the Pacific Alliance Leaders’ Summit taking place in Mexico in July, 2018.
