Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sits and talks with Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda and Chair of the African Union, alongside flags representing Canada, the African Union, and Rwanda.

Today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the President of Rwanda and Chair of the African Union, Paul Kagame, on the margins of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London, United Kingdom.

The Prime Minister and President exchanged views on their shared priorities with respect to growth that benefits everyone, the environment, good governance, peacekeeping, freedom of expression and women’s empowerment.

Prime Minister Trudeau noted the importance of the work of the African Union, and discussed how Canada’s priorities for the upcoming G7 Summit in Charlevoix complement those of the African Union.

The two leaders discussed ways to strengthen diplomatic relations between Canada and Rwanda.
