PM Trudeau sits in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Latvia.

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Māris Kučinskis, Prime Minister of Latvia.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Kučinskis discussed the positive bilateral relationship between Canada and Latvia, including through the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and Latvia’s support for the Canadian Armed Forces currently deployed to Latvia as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence. They also discussed the rise of antidemocratic forces and regional issues‎. 

Prime Minister Trudeau also congratulated Prime Minister Kučinskis on Latvia’s Centenary this year, marking 100 years since Latvia became an independent state.
