Today, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, spoke with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of New Zealand to take stock of developments since the terrorist attack in Christchurch on March 15, 2019. They also discussed the devastating terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.
The two leaders reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to inclusion and diversity, and agreed that more needed to be done globally to address hate and fear leading to extremism and violence, including through the internet.
The two leaders agreed to stay in close touch and to work cooperatively on the shared priority of ensuring safe, secure, and open societies.
