Today, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, spoke with Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Johnson discussed the recent G7 Summit in Biarritz, France, and the high degree of alignment between Canada and the United Kingdom, including on the importance of biodiversity and each country’s contribution to combatting wild fires in the Amazon. They pledged to continue exchanging views on issues of common interest, including the situation in Hong Kong and the need for rejecting violence and promoting inclusive dialogue.
The two leaders also discussed their shared commitment to further strengthen relations between Canada and the U.K. beyond Brexit. They reaffirmed the mutual benefits of robust bilateral trade and commercial relations, and that engagement to advance longstanding economic ties will continue.
