Prime Minister Justin Trudeau meets with Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister to discuss shared priorities. The Prime Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work collaboratively with the Government of Manitoba.

The leaders discussed the recent tragedies that have occurred across Winnipeg, and reiterated their commitment to protecting the health and safety of Manitobans and all Canadians.

The Prime Minister and the Premier discussed the significant shared infrastructure investments being made under the Investing in Canada Plan that will build prosperous communities and support the transition to a clean economy. They also exchanged views on health care, the environment, the fight against climate change, and electrification and energy projects. They both agreed that investments toward climate change adaptation and mitigation are important to building stronger and more resilient communities. 

The Prime Minister and the Premier agreed on the importance of advancing the implementation of the Canada Free Trade Agreement to break down internal trade barriers and encourage a competitive domestic market.

They agreed to continue to collaborate on these shared priorities and other issues of importance to Manitobans, and looked forward to the next First Ministers’ Meeting.
