
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today met with the President of Cabo Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, on the margins of the 33rd African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Prime Minister and the President exchanged views on shared priorities including governance and human rights, climate change, and regional peace and security.
Underscoring the shared values between Canada and Cabo Verde, the two leaders discussed the importance of the Equal Rights Coalition.
They discussed the urgent need for innovative climate action and continued collaboration on sustainable oceans management as well as clean technologies.
The two leaders spoke about strengthening trade and investment between their two countries, and agreed to work together to support greater economic opportunities for people in Canada and Cabo Verde.
