Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan on the margins of the Munich Security Conference.

The two leaders welcomed the enhancement of bilateral relations between Canada and Kazakhstan, as well as the latter’s hosting of the 12th World Trade Organization’s Ministerial Conference in June 2020. The Prime Minister and the President also discussed Kazakhstan's ongoing reform efforts.

The meeting builds on the Governor General’s visit to Kazakhstan in December 2018. She was the first Canadian Governor General to visit the country.
