Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Prime Minister of Niger, Brigi Rafini, on the margins of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
The leaders spoke about the strong bilateral relationship between Canada and Niger, based upon shared values, a common language, and peace and security cooperation.
Prime Minister Trudeau conveyed Canada’s solidarity with the Nigerien people, faced with considerable security and humanitarian challenges linked to the crisis in the Sahel. They spoke about ongoing collaboration to prevent conflict and combat terrorism in the region.
The leaders also talked about La Francophonie, including shared priorities such as good governance and democracy.
