Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg.
The Secretary General expressed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Canada and especially to the families of the Canadian Armed Forces members involved in the CH-148 Cyclone helicopter accident. The Prime Minister thanked the Secretary General for his sympathy and solidarity, and expressed his appreciation for the assistance being provided by NATO and Alliance members. The Prime Minister noted that all Canadians stood with the victims of this tragic event, which is also a difficult reminder of the sacrifices that our brave Canadians in uniform make daily.
The Secretary General thanked the Prime Minister for Canada’s contributions to NATO, and the Prime Minister reiterated Canada’s longstanding support for the Alliance.
