Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Mayor of Brampton Patrick Brown to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister and the Mayor spoke about the high number of COVID-19 cases in Brampton and the wider Peel region, and ways to help contain the spread of the virus and keep people safe, particularly through testing. Both leaders emphasized their appreciation for essential workers, including those working in the food processing sector and those protecting Canada’s supply chains.

Prime Minister Trudeau restated his commitment to help municipalities, provinces, and territories in their response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister and the Mayor also discussed the importance of protecting all Canadians against hate speech and misinformation, including by denouncing discrimination against people of different backgrounds.

The Prime Minister and the Mayor agreed to continue working together on the response to COVID-19, in order to protect the health and safety of the people of Brampton, and all Canadians.
