The Prime Minister wished the President a happy New Year and extended his warmest wishes to the people of Ukraine. They noted the close collaboration between Canada and its partners in responding to Ukraine’s needs, including on macroeconomic support and military assistance to Ukraine. Prime Minister Trudeau reiterated Canada’s commitment to continue working with Allies and partners to provide Ukraine with as much as it takes, for as long as it takes.

The leaders exchanged views on Ukraine’s efforts toward a just and sustainable peace, noting the success of recent international meetings on Ukraine’s Peace Formula. They agreed to continue engaging and working with a wide range of countries to increase pressure on Russia to end its war of aggression and achieve sustainable peace.
