Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski.

Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Spasovski discussed COVID-19, and the need for a collaborative international response to address its health and economic impacts and to find global solutions for a comprehensive and sustainable recovery. Prime Minister Spasovski thanked Prime Minister Trudeau for Canada’s support in the global fight against the pandemic, including support provided to North Macedonia in dealing with the crisis.

The two leaders spoke of the strong and longstanding friendship between Canada and North Macedonia. They looked forward to opportunities to deepen the relationship, and to continued collaboration, including through the United Nations, as NATO Allies, and in other international organizations, to advance shared priorities such as protecting international peace and security.

COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving global challenge. The Government of Canada is working closely with local, provincial, territorial, and international partners to minimize its health, economic, and social impacts in Canada and around the world.
