Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The Prime Minister and President strongly condemned Russia’s ongoing military aggression against the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, and agreed to coordinate additional economic, security, and humanitarian support for Ukrainians.

The leaders also noted the need to secure energy supply chains in Europe, and agreed to further cooperate to address current energy requirements, as part of Canada and the European Union’s net-zero climate objectives.

Prime Minister Trudeau and President von der Leyen agreed to continue coordinating closely on efforts with allies and partners to put an end to Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine.
