The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, met today with Liberian President and Nobel Laureate Ellen Johnson Sirleaf during his official visit to Liberia, his first in Africa as Prime Minister.

The two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest including democracy, economic development, health, peace and security, diversity, human rights and the empowerment and leadership of women and girls. They looked forward to deepened cooperation on these priorities.

The Prime Minister reconfirmed his commitment to engage with Africa to address pressing challenges facing the continent.
