Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met today with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel to discuss areas of mutual interest including the growth opportunities created by the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), an ambitious, progressive agreement‎ aligned with both countries’ interests and values. The prime ministers observed that CETA sets a benchmark for progressive trade agreements and will create middle-class jobs and benefit companies, consumers and workers alike.  

The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization alliance and the United Nations in addressing common threats to global peace and security. They reiterated their shared, ongoing commitment to countering terrorism.
