
Today Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Martin Vizcarra, President of Peru, on the margins of the Summit of the Americas in Lima, Peru.
The leaders discussed enhancing bilateral commercial relations and underscored the many opportunities that exist for collaboration between Canadian and Peruvian companies.
The Prime Minister and President also discussed the crisis in Venezuela and Pacific Alliance free trade agreement negotiations. Both leaders underscored the importance of trade benefiting all members of society. Prime Minister Trudeau took the opportunity to commend Peru for its strong stance in defending democratic norms in the Americas, including in its role as host of the 2018 Summit of the Americas. He also raised with the President Canada's appreciation for Peru's cooperation with respect to a current consular case.
