The Honourable Daniel Dumais was appointed to the Superior Court of Québec in 2014. 

Senior Associate Chief Justice Dumais led the Commercial Division of the Superior Court of Québec for seven years and was also responsible for the District of Beauce. Prior to his appointment to the Court, he practised law with Heenan Blaikie Aubut from 1982 to 2012, and then with Norton Rose Fulbright from 2012 to 2014. His practice areas were civil litigation, commercial law, insurance law, and arbitration in sports.

Senior Associate Chief Justice Dumais was recognised in the legal directory Best Lawyers in Canada from 2008 to 2013. He was an instructor at Université Laval from 1987 to 1994 and a lecturer for the Bar Admission Course from 1995 to 2003. He has also been a member of the Canadian Bar Association and of the Sports Lawyers Association.

Senior Associate Chief Justice Dumais obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Université Lavalin 1981 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1982. He completed a Master of Laws at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1987 and received the Emeritus Lawyer distinction from the Barreau du Québec in 2012.
