Prime Minister Trudeau's message on la Fête nationale du Québec and Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day
Hello everyone, and bonne Fête nationale du Québec!
Today, I join millions of Quebecers to celebrate our community and heritage.
Quebec has a unique culture.
One that’s rooted in history and in the French language.
And it is one of our country’s cornerstones.
Today, we celebrate Quebec’s history and its future, too.
A future where we all work together to fight climate change, build safer communities, advance reconciliation, and make life better for families.
As we recognize Quebec’s past, present, and future, Francophones are also celebrating Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.
In small enclaves and large communities, French is spoken across this beautiful country.
It remains a large part of our identity – and we will always defend and promote it.
So, on this special day, let’s celebrate the unique culture of Quebec,
let’s recognize the important place of French in Canada,
and let’s acknowledge the millions of Quebecers and Francophones, who make our country a better place.
From my family to yours, Sophie and I are wishing you a wonderful Fête nationale du Québec and a happy Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day.
