Prime Minister to travel to the United Kingdom, attend Commonwealth meeting in Malta, and climate conference in France

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced that he will travel to Europe for various bilateral and multilateral meetings. In London, United Kingdom, the Prime Minister will have an audience with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, and will meet with his counterpart David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, on November 25, 2015. He will then travel to Valletta, Malta, to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), being held from November 27 to 29, 2015.

Prime Minister hosts First Ministers’ Meeting

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, is hosting a First Ministers’ Meeting today with provincial and territorial Premiers to discuss the country’s strategy to fight climate change.

A main focus of today’s First Ministers’ Meeting, the first held since 2009, is to discuss climate change and Canada’s approach to the negotiations in advance of COP21 (the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change).

Prime Minister announces Chief Government Whip

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced today that Andrew Leslie, Member of Parliament for Orléans, has agreed to serve as Chief Government Whip.

Mr. Leslie was first elected in the Orléans riding in 2015. As a retired Lieutenant-General, Mr. Leslie has a strong background in public service. His dedicated service has been recognized both domestically and internationally on numerous occasions during his 35-year career with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Prime Minister announces support to reduce poverty in Vietnam

Introduction

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced support for the Vietnam Cooperative Enterprise Development project that will help reduce poverty and contribute to equitable economic growth in Vietnam.

The Government of Canada will partner with Société de coopération pour le développement international on this project, providing $12.9 million over five years (2015-2020) to help increase the competitiveness and productivity of Vietnamese agricultural cooperatives.
