The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today highlighted new measures included in Budget 2024 to create jobs, unlock opportunities, and build more housing and infrastructure for Indigenous Peoples.

During the visit, Prime Minister Trudeau and President Duda will hold a bilateral meeting in Esquimalt to discuss their unwavering support to Ukraine and their shared commitment to transatlantic security ahead of the NATO Leaders’ Summit in Washington in July, as well as bilateral cooperation on energy security and clean energy.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Chrystia Freeland, and the Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, Sean Fraser, today unveiled the federal government’s ambitious housing plan, Solving the housing crisis: Canada’s Housing Plan, supported by new investments from the upcoming Budget 2024.

During the visit, Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Attal deepened the partnership between our two countries. They discussed ongoing progress in the efforts to halt biodiversity loss, the fight against climate change and the transition to a net-zero economy as well as the importance of safeguarding our energy security and advancing the development of critical mineral resources.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Roch Huppé, former Comptroller General of Canada, on his retirement from the Public Service.

In response to these challenges, the service of our Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) is more important than ever – from defending Canada and securing our sovereignty in the Arctic, to protecting our continent alongside the United States, to providing life-saving assistance to Canadians impacted by natural disasters, to strengthening NATO’s collective defence and providing military assistance to help Ukraine defend itself, to increasing our presence in the Indo-Pacific.
