The Prime Minister announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Diane Gray, currently Founding President and CEO of CentrePort Canada Inc., becomes President of Prairies Economic Development Canada, effective October 31, 2022.

Arun Thangaraj, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Transport, will join the Deputy Minister team at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada as Associate Deputy Minister, effective September 6, 2022.

Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Jens Stoltenberg to visit Canada

During the visit, the Prime Minister and the Secretary General will advance shared priorities and discuss global challenges including threats to Euro-Atlantic security – particularly Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine – as well as climate change and its impacts on defence and security, especially in the Arctic.

Supporting the local economy in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine by investing in critical infrastructure

The Îles-de-la-Madeleine are an iconic region of great importance for all Canadians – from providing seafood to tourism opportunities. By investing in critical infrastructure in the region, we are creating good jobs and supporting the local economy for generations to come.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced a new investment of almost $40 million over four years, starting in 2022-23, to rebuild the fishers’ wharf at the Port of Cap-aux-Meules, an important gateway for transportation, fishing, and tourism in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec.

Prime Minister welcomes the Twenty-Ninth Annual Report on the Public Service of Canada

The report outlines the work of public servants over the past year to address ongoing and emerging crises. Public servants secured and distributed vaccines, launched the whole-of-government effort in response to the security situation in Afghanistan and Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable invasion of Ukraine, and addressed the impacts of extreme weather events on communities across the country.
