Prime Minister concludes productive NATO Summit

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today participated in the NATO Summit in Brussels, Belgium. At the Summit, leaders discussed threats and challenges affecting transatlantic security and joint efforts to strengthen shared commitments to keep our people safe. Leaders also welcomed an ambitious NATO 2030 agenda that will continue NATO’s adaptation to address evolving security challenges, including the security implications of climate change.

Prime Minister welcomes reappointment of Daniel Therrien as Privacy Commissioner of Canada

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner provides Parliament with impartial, fact-based information and expert advice, with the mission to protect and promote the privacy rights of Canadians. The Privacy Commissioner’s responsibilities include investigating complaints, conducting audits, and taking legal action when needed; publicly reporting on how public and private sector organizations handle personal information; and supporting research and promoting public awareness and understanding of privacy issues.

Prime Minister announces assistance for Palestinians affected by the recent violence in Gaza and the West Bank

Canada firmly believes that the Palestinian and Israeli peoples have a right to live in peace, security, and dignity – without fear and with their human rights respected. The Government of Canada is supporting efforts to ensure that emergency relief quickly reaches Palestinian civilians facing urgent humanitarian needs in Gaza, as well as those affected by violence in the West Bank.

The Prime Minister announces changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced the following changes in the senior ranks of the Public Service:

Thao Pham, currently Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations), Privy Council Office, becomes Deputy Minister, COVID Recovery, Privy Council Office, effective May 31, 2021.

Shawn Tupper, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, becomes Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Operations), Privy Council Office, effective May 31, 2021.
