Hello everyone. The last year has been hard, but what we have seen is that Canadians are there for each other.

Yesterday, we held the 30th meeting with provincial and territorial premiers since the beginning of the pandemic.

Good morning, everyone. If things have been hard lately for everyone, there are certain families for whom the last few weeks have been incredibly heartbreaking. A few days ago, we lost 13-year-old Emily Victoria Viegas to this virus. Earlier this month, it was a toddler who hadn’t yet turned two.

Happy Friday, everyone. This morning, I want to talk about the third wave, and the steps we’re continuing to take to keep you safe. First, let’s start with the topic of travel.

Mr. President, thank you for your leadership on addressing the climate crisis, and on other shared priorities, from the fight against COVID-19, to building a strong middle class.

It’s great to be here with the Deputy Prime Minister – and our outstanding Finance Minister – Chrystia Freeland. Yesterday, we released our 2021 federal budget. This is our plan to bridge Canada and Canadians through this crisis, and set everyone on the path to come roaring back.

Today, I want to speak directly to everyone in communities facing a severe third wave of this pandemic.

Today, I’m going to talk about public health measures, vaccines, and support for Canadians. Let’s start with public health.

The situation we’re facing with COVID-19 remains extremely serious. On Sunday, Ontario reported a record single-day high of new COVID-19 cases.
