The Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Quebec announce a new infrastructure agreement

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, and the Premier of Quebec, Philippe Couillard, today confirmed the ratification of the Canada-Quebec Agreement on the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund and the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. 

This agreement—with funding provided by the Government of Canada, the Province of Quebec, and municipalities—will support public transit projects, as well as projects that will provide improved water and wastewater systems, in order that Quebec families may benefit from modernized infrastructure.

Canada hosts North American Leaders’ Summit

Prime Minister welcomes renewed ties with Mexico following visit from President of Mexico

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced the conclusion of the State Visit of Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to Canada.

Through this visit, Canada has renewed its close ties with Mexico, one of our most valued partners in the hemisphere. Both leaders agreed that, while collaboration between our countries is already extensive, now is the time to do more – to bring our students together, to deepen our business relationships, and to create sustainable economic growth for all of our people.

Canada to lift Mexican visa requirements

The Government of Canada has made it a top priority to re-establish and strengthen our relationship with one of our most important partners, Mexico.

Today, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced Canada’s intention to lift the visa requirement for Mexican visitors beginning December 1, 2016. The announcement came during a productive two-day State visit to Canada by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto. 

Lifting the visa requirement will deepen the ties between Canada and Mexico and will increase the flow of travellers, ideas, and business between both countries.

Bob Hamilton, currently Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, becomes Commissioner of Revenue, effective August 1, 2016.

Christyne Tremblay, currently Deputy Minister, Développement durable, Environnement et Lutte contre les changements climatiques, gouvernement du Québec, becomes Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, effective August 1, 2016.

Prime Minister announces new infrastructure agreement with British Columbia

The Government of Canada remains committed to making significant investments in infrastructure that will improve our public transit systems, strengthen Canadian communities, and help grow the economy.

Today, the Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and Premier Christy Clark announced that an agreement has been reached that will result in more than $900 million being invested – by the Government of Canada, British Columbia, and municipalities – in public transit projects across the province.
